It’s in the blood…

 

Ever since we were little girls, we heard stories of our fabled great, great Aunties. Sisters who took life by the horns and conquered it against all odds! We heard stories of the brilliant mind of Auntie Rosa and her entrepreneurial intuition that is what planted the seeds for our family’s legacy. From investments in the stock market, residential properties, multiple commercial businesses and being a prominent member of the town and community, she had her hand and heart in everything.

 

Our mother would take us to the home where Auntie Rosa & our Uncle Tom lived, and built shiplap walls with their bare hands. Full of innovations that weren’t even thought of yet and that still stands to this day with the same infrastructure! Mom would recount stories of herself and her siblings spending summers there climbing trees and exploring. Detailing all the things that they had built on the land that had long since rotted away, but alive in her memory! We as kids, would just take it all in, and that home became a memento that resides inside us as well as many generations before us.

 

When mom got sick with cancer it was the only place she wanted to be as she recovered from surgery. It’s where our dad convalesced after heart surgery. There is so much peace and healing in the air there! Our mother losing the battle with cancer ignited in us a fire that cannot being extinguished. A passion to pick up the mantle of the family legacy and breathe new life into it! To stand on the platform that was built before us and grow it into something spectacular that our ancestors would be proud of. To leave a world to our children’s children that they too would hear the stories, both new and old, of their family and to find their passion within!
